In this guide, we explain which model suits which use — 38L or 50L, Smart Key or manual — so you can make the right choice immediately.
38L vs 50L: what capacity do you need?
- 38L top box — space for one full-face helmet. Perfect for commuting and short rides.
- 50L top box — space for two full-face helmets. Ideal for touring and riding with a passenger.
Both cases have a maximum load capacity of 6 kg.
Smart Key vs manual
The Smart Top Box opens electronically with the Honda Smart Key system — you don't need to take the key out of your pocket. The manual version uses your motorcycle's ignition key.
Top boxes for the Honda X-ADV 750
Complete package (recommended for 2021-2024)
- Smart Top Box Easy Kit 50L — Complete — everything in one order: top box, carrier, opener, aluminum panel, and rubber pad. For Honda X-ADV 750 model years 2021-2024.
50L top boxes
- Smart Top Box 50L — Honda Smart Key (€424) — electronic opener, two helmets.
- Manual Top Box 50L (€447) — operated with ignition key.
38L top boxes
- Top Box 38L with Key System (€404) — includes key system.
- Top Box 38L Honda Original (€263) — basic version, key system sold separately.
Required accessories
For mounting and finishing, you usually need these parts:
- Aluminum Panel — design finish for the 50L Smart/Manual.
- Top Box Lock — needed for 38L if you don't have a key system yet.
- Smart Top Box Opener — electronic opening system for 50L.
- Rubber Pad 50L — passenger comfort, no drilling required.
Backrests for passenger comfort
- Backrest 38L Top Box (€121) — polyurethane foam.
- Backrest 50L — Black — for X-ADV 2025/2026.
- Backrest 50L — Black/Red — matches the Comfort Seat with red stitching.
Inner bags
- Inner Bag 38L (€73) — 15L nylon with shoulder strap.
- Inner Bag 25L (€70) — for 50L top box.
- Waterproof Inner Bag (€145) — PVC tarpaulin, can also be carried separately.
Compatibility by year of manufacture
- Honda X-ADV 2017-2020 — different rear carrier needed, ask us for advice.
- Honda X-ADV 2021-2024 — full compatibility with all top boxes.
- Honda X-ADV 2025-2026 — compatible; backrests in 2025/2026 version.
